Today we are revealing a huge transformation project that took place when we were renovating Lacey’s house in 2015!
My guest bathroom was dated back to 1958 and boy was it a scary sight. Pink and brown tiles were everywhere….The toilet was even pink!
The first thing we had to do was demo out all the tile, the old vanity and mirror, and the toilet. We actually ended up keeping the pink bathtub and glazed it white to stay within budget and I must say the tub turned out really nice. Looks brand new!
To keep costs down we also repurposed this dresser we found at one of our favorite local antique stores and installed a sink right into it. This look is really unique and brought in a lot of character to the space. The mirror and dresser came painted the perfect color and together cost us about $300 plus the sink we found on amazon for around $100. Although a little bit more sweat and labor went into the vanity it cost so much less then buying a brand new one from Home Depot or a fancy online store.
For the flooring we had originally picked out ceramic tile that mimicked marble but when we started to install it nearly every tile broke! We ended up returning it and buying real marble and laying it in a diamond pattern. It turned out amazing and it wasn’t a huge expense due to the small amount of square footage in the bathroom.
We painted the walls Gray Owl by Sherwin Williams and picked out a brushed nickel faucet, towel holder, and toilet paper holder.
The overall tone I was going for was a soft monochromatic grey look with subtle pops of black and white with vintage touches (my favorite!).
Just take a look at the before and afters!! crazy right?!
How much did we spend?! Here are some prices…
Reglazing tiles and tub – $800
Marble Flooring- $200
Antique Vanity and Mirror – $300
Faucet & Sink – $100
Light Fixture – $20
Not including labor, we spent right around $1,420! Not too shabby! 🙂
