If you’re coming over from Citrine Living, welcome! Doesn’t Tamara have a beautiful home? We just love everything she does, she is one or our favorites and is so inspirational!
Today we are talking about how to transform your outdoor space in just a few easy steps! After the winter months my deck was in shambles. It was just dirty and bare and needed a spring pick me up!
Here are a couple “Before” pictures.
And here is the “After!”
One thing to point out here is that I had purchased all the outdoor furniture last year and bought every piece second hand! However, I have linked similar items at the end of the post 🙂
If you are ballin’ on a budget like me, you have to get a little creative! I found the outdoor dinning table on craigslist for $50, the bench at an antique shop for $60 as well as the hanging planters for $10 each! The wicker chairs are originally from ikea but I found them at a consignment store for $15 each!
The only thing I bought for the outdoor makeover were the plants! The large ferns were $15 each from Costco! WHAT A DEAL!
The first tip to jazz up any outdoor is space it to arrange your furniture in a functional yet cozy way. We placed this wicker chair along side the bench to create a cozy conversational area.
We also brought out this poof that I had in my living room (that happened to be an indoor/outdoor poof) and used it as a coffee table.
The second easy tip that is crucial to add to any outdoor space is PLANTS! This brought so much life and color to my deck and really pulled the look together.
I bought these tall full ferns from Costco and placed them in the corners of my deck. The pop of green and the texture of the fern adds an earthy feel to the space.
I absolutely love these hanging wall planters! Adding small plants to any kind of plant hanger adds a design element that is unique to the space!
Our third tip is to add pillows and accessories! Here I am adding fun pillows to my bench! I added these black and white striped pillows along with a palm print pillow for an extra pop!
We then added a cozy blanket to the chair, and a tray to the coffee table. We topped the tray with a brass candle stick and spring cactus to pull the look together!
On the other side of my deck we have the dinning table! My fourth tip would be to dress up your patio table with fresh flowers, or potted plants/flowers.
I added fresh picked apple blossom branches to a large jar and paired that with a bowl of artichokes, a topiary, and brass candlesticks. We used a dish towel with a fun green plaid for some added texture and a nice base.
My last tip is to fill those awkward spaces or corners with plants! It makes all the difference!
Thank you so much for reading, we so appreciate it! We would love to hear from you in the comments so please leave any questions or feedback!
