Hello and welcome to our Summer home tour! Today we have teamed up with some amazing blogger friends to bring you fun ideas on how to decorate for summer. If you are coming over from our lovely host Janine at Happy Happy Nester, we are so glad you’re here! If this is your first time visiting us, we are Kim and Lacey a mother/daughter design team. Today we are going to show you how we have decorated a few rooms in Kim’s home.
Let’s start in the kitchen which is honestly where we spend most of our time so it gets the most visual exposure from family and friends. One of the things we love most about summer is all of the beautiful flowers that start blooming in the garden. All through out the summer I am clipping fresh flowers from my yard and have fun arranging them in various style vases. Fresh flowers along with some of my vintage finds mixed in makes me happy ;).
On my kitchen table I placed some cut lilacs and single blossom peonies in a large enamel pitcher I found at Homegoods. I bought this pitcher because it reminded me of the vintage french pitchers I see in French decor magazines. Hopefully someday I will find an original but for now this one works great! The size and height of the pitcher makes this arrangement quite a showstopper!
I found the lavendar pillows at Homegoods as well and like how the texture looks like flower petals! I’ve had the purple glasses for many years as well as the vintage runner with embroidered fleur- de- lis purple thread, a perfect compliment to the lilacs! These french antique stone and iron candlesticks are one of my favorite “finds”!
On the kitchen Island I like to have a tray with fresh cut flowers and a candle or two. This ruffled runner adds a pretty, soft touch.
The family room off of the kitchen also gets adorned with flowers from the garden. Some lilacs on the mantel and peonies on the coffee table brighten the room. The white hydrangeas on the side table are faux and always add a pretty touch 😉
On the vintage coffee table I’ve kept it simple with a tray of flowers and a couple of old chippy candlesticks. You might notice that I have quite a collection of various old wood candlesticks and use them through out my home… more of my vintage “finds”!
I found the antique mirror a few weeks ago at one of my favorite local antique shops and placed it on the mantel. I’ve had the pair of candlesticks for years and was about to get rid of them. They were a dark bronze and just didn’t go with my style but then I decided to refresh them with left over paint I had on hand. I like how they turned out and think they look great with the old mirror. Sometimes all you need is a little paint to give a piece a whole new look!
The sun porch also gets a bouquet of fresh garden peonies as well as a few new blush pink pillows for a light, summery touch 😊
All of the tables in this room as well as the lamp posts are vintage second hand “finds”!
Here I have another tray with fresh flowers and old chippy candlesticks. Can you tell I’ve been obsessed with trays lately? 🙂
